Cookie Policy

Last Updated: March 31, 2026

The Short Version

We barely use cookies. Our analytics platform does not set any cookies at all. The only cookies on our site come from the spam protection tool on the contact page, and those are strictly necessary for it to work.

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. They serve various purposes — from keeping you logged in to tracking your browsing habits across the internet. We believe in using as few as possible.

Our Analytics: Zero Cookies

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics platform that we self-host on our own servers. Umami runs in cookieless mode. It does not place cookies on your device, does not use local storage for tracking, and does not collect any personally identifiable information. All the data it gathers is aggregated and anonymous — we can see how many people visited a page, but we cannot tell who they are.

Contact Form: hCaptcha Cookies

Our contact page uses hCaptcha to verify that form submissions come from real people, not bots. When you interact with the captcha, it may set the following cookies:

CookieSet ByPurposeLifespan
__cf_bmhCaptcha / CloudflareBot detection30 minutes
_GRECAPTCHAhCaptchaSpam verificationBrowser session

These cookies are classified as strictly necessary because the contact form cannot function without them. See hCaptcha's privacy policy for details on their data handling.

Ghost CMS

Our site runs on Ghost. Ghost can set session cookies if you use member features like newsletter signups, but we do not currently use those features. If you are simply browsing the site, Ghost does not set any cookies.

What We Do Not Use

To be explicit about what is not on our site:

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies
  • No marketing pixels or tracking tags
  • No social media tracking cookies
  • No third-party analytics cookies
  • No cross-site tracking of any kind

Managing Cookies in Your Browser

Since we only use strictly necessary cookies, we do not display a cookie consent banner. You can still control cookies through your browser settings if you prefer:

  • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy
  • Edge: Settings > Cookies and Site Permissions

Blocking all cookies may prevent the contact form's spam protection from working properly.

Changes

If we ever add cookies or tracking technologies beyond what is described here, we will update this page and add a consent mechanism where required by law.
